Privacy Policy

Welcome to Linky. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you register for an account we collect information such as your name, email address, password (stored securely), and any profile data you provide. We also store a generated user id and any customer IDs we create with payment providers (for example Stripe customerId).

Shortened URLs & link data

When you create short links we store the original URL, the shortened code, owner (user id) when applicable, and timestamps. This data is required for the core functionality of the service.

Analytics

We record lightweight analytics for link clicks including a shortCode/url id, timestamp, user-agent, IP address (for geo lookup), referrer, and some parsed device/browser fields. Analytics are used to provide reporting and usage statistics. We use heuristics to filter bots and sample traffic to limit storage and cost.

Payments

When you purchase a paid plan we integrate with Stripe (or other payment providers) to process payments. We store payment and subscription records needed to manage billing (provider payment ids, provider subscription ids, status, amounts and timestamps). We do not store full card details — payment card data is handled by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe) in accordance with their policies.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and improve Linky features and services.
  • To process payments, manage subscriptions and prevent fraud.
  • To send transactional emails such as receipts, password reset and account notices.
  • For analytics, product improvement, and internal reporting.

3. Sharing and third parties

We share information with service providers who help deliver Linky (payment processors, hosting, email providers, analytics providers). These vendors act as data processors and are contractually prohibited from using your data for other purposes. We will never sell your personal data.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, and basic analytics. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser; disabling cookies may impact your experience.

5. Data retention

We retain account and billing data as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Analytics data is retained for a period that balances utility and cost; aggregated or anonymized analytics may be kept longer.

6. Security

We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. This includes encryption of sensitive fields, access controls, and regular security reviews. While we strive to protect your data, no system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account was compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at the support address below. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

8. International transfers

Linky may transfer and store data in countries outside your own for operational reasons (hosting, payments). We take steps required by law to safeguard your personal data when transfers occur.

9. Children

Linky is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date is shown below and we will post changes here. For material changes, we will provide prominent notice.
